Embarking on a Spiritual Journey
On a serene Wednesday night, I embarked on a divine journey from Bangalore to Tirupathi, choosing a one-day tour package with KSTDC. This package promised a seamless experience, including transportation in an AC Volvo bus, breakfast, darshan at Padmavathi Thayar Temple, and darshan of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala, all culminating in a return to Bangalore by the next evening.
Setting Off
Our adventure began at 10:30 PM as we left Bangalore. The night passed swiftly, and we reached Tirupathi around 2 AM. Traveling solo, I soon found myself in the company of three fellow solo travelers on the same package. We quickly bonded over our shared anticipation for the darshan and our previous experiences visiting Tirupathi.
Early Morning Darshan
Upon arrival in Tirupathi, we were given rooms to freshen up. By 3:30 AM, we were back on the bus, headed to Alamelu Mangapuram for the Suprabhata darshan of Shri Padmavathi Thayar at 4:30 AM. The serene atmosphere and the early morning rituals made for a beautiful start to our day. After a blissful darshan, we returned to our hotel for a hearty complimentary breakfast featuring Pongal, Idli, Dosa, Vada, Sambar, and chutney, topped off with coffee and water.
Journey to Tirumala
Post-breakfast, we switched to an APSRTC bus for the journey up Tirumala hill, as AC Volvo buses are not permitted to make the climb. The ascent began with a thorough security check of both passengers and our belongings. By 9 AM, we arrived at the Tirumala Rambagicha bus stand, accompanied by our KSTDC guide.
Surrendering Electronics and Varaha Swamy Darshan
Before proceeding to the main darshan, we stored our electronic devices and slippers at a designated shop. Our guide then led us to the Varaha Swamy temple near the Sri Vari pool for a brief darshan. This lesser-known temple offered a peaceful prelude to the main event.
Main Darshan of Lord Venkateswara
Next, we joined the queue for the Rs. 300 darshan ticket holders. After waiting for about three hours, we finally entered the main darshan line around noon. The wait was a small price to pay for the divine experience that awaited us. Once inside, we underwent a security check and verification of our ID cards and tickets before moving forward.
As we walked towards the temple, the anticipation grew. After a couple of hours, we had a blissful darshan of Sri Srinivasa Perumal. The sight of the deity was overwhelming, filling my heart with gratitude and peace. Post-darshan, we collected our Laddu prasadam, included with the Rs. 300 ticket, and had the option to purchase additional laddus for Rs. 50 each.
Returning to Bangalore
With our spiritual journey complete, we retrieved our electronic devices and slippers, waited for our co-passengers, and descended back to Tirupathi in the APSRTC bus. Our Volvo bus awaited us at Alipiri. We made a stop for lunch at a decent restaurant, where we paid for our meals before resuming our journey back to Bangalore. By 10 PM, we were back in the city, our hearts full and spirits high.
Reflection
The entire journey was a profound experience, enhanced by the company of newfound friends and the divine darshan of Lord Venkateswara. This trip was a heartfelt expression of gratitude, a "thank you" for all the blessings received. The serene atmosphere, the divine energy, and the camaraderie made it a memorable pilgrimage. As always, the darshan of Srinivasa Perumal was the ultimate highlight, leaving me thankful and spiritually rejuvenate
