A Solo Spiritual Escape to Sholinghur's Divine Hills, Tamil Nadu (one of the 108 Divya Desam temple)
It all began on a beautiful Sunday morning. After completing my home rituals, I felt a sense of peace and purpose as I embarked on a solo pilgrimage to the divine temple of Sholinghur in Tamil Nadu.
Setting off from my uncle's place in Arakkonam at 6:30 AM, I boarded a local bus for a mere 25 rupees. The cool morning breeze and the scenic journey made it a delightful ride.
As I reached the temple entrance at 7:45 AM, a majestic statue of Hanuman, his hands folded in pious welcome, greeted me.
It was as if the devoted monkey god himself was inviting me for a blessed darshan of Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, the presiding deity of the hilltop temple.
Sholinghur's main temple sits atop a hill, requiring a climb of roughly 1500 steps. After paying respects to Hanuman, I opted for the newly inaugurated rope car service. The queue, however, was quite long due to the weekend crowd. After a patient wait of about two hours, I finally secured my ticket (100 rupees for a round trip).
The Rope car ride, with its breathtaking views, was an experience in itself. Each car, holding a maximum of four people, took just 7-9 minutes to reach the summit. The panoramic landscape from above was simply stunning.
After a fulfilling darshan of Amma Amarthavalli Thayar and Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, which took about 30 minutes, I descended the hill using the rope car again. The return journey, with playful monkeys frolicking around the hillsides, was equally charming.
A shared auto ride (30 rupees) took me to the base of the smaller hill, which houses the Yoga Anjineeyar temple. With renewed energy, I climbed the 400 steps in about 15 minutes. There, I was blessed with the sight of Ramar, Ranganathar, and the magnificent Yoga Anjineeyar in his seated posture.
Filled with a sense of tranquility after these divine encounters, I descended the hill and caught a shared auto back to the Sholinghur bus stand to return to home, Arakonam. This solo spiritual journey was an experience I will cherish forever. The breathtaking views and the sacred atmosphere left me feeling truly blessed and content.
