More Than Places to Stay… They Became Part of My Journey
Whenever people ask me about solo travel, they often ask:
"Weren't you scared travelling alone?"
Honestly, this journey taught me something very beautiful.
As a solo traveller, I was never really alone.
Every hostel, every dormitory, every common area, every shared cup of tea and every random conversation slowly became a part of my story.
These stays not only gave me a bed to sleep in but also gave me friendships, life lessons, confidence, and beautiful memories.
Most importantly, they taught me that the world is still full of kind people.
🏔️ Zostel Leh – Where Mountains and Friendships Met
Living Among Dreamers and Travellers
After completing my Vipassana course, staying at Zostel Leh felt like entering another beautiful world.
Surrounded by majestic mountains and peaceful vibes, the hostel itself felt magical.
Every morning started with breathtaking mountain views and chilly winds.
Every evening ended with conversations, laughter, and stories from people from different parts of India and even different countries.
❤️ The People I Met
One of the most beautiful things about Zostel was the people.
There were solo travellers, bikers, trekkers, backpackers, corporate professionals taking a break from life, and people simply following their dreams.
Some inspired me with their courage to leave everything behind and travel.
And surprisingly, many people got inspired listening to my own life journey—balancing family, profession, responsibilities, and still continuing to chase my dreams.
It reminded me that:
Everyone is fighting battles and everyone carries beautiful stories.
🌄 What I Learnt in Leh
It is okay to slow down.
Beautiful conversations happen with strangers.
We are capable of much more than we think.
Age should never stop us from travelling.
Leh taught me to trust myself.
🏛️ PODStay (Mostel), Delhi – The Comfort of Simplicity
A Small Stay with Big Memories
Delhi can feel overwhelming for solo travellers.
But staying at PODStay (Mostel) made me feel comfortable and safe.
The location was convenient and budget friendly, making it easier to explore Delhi's famous attractions.
The hostel atmosphere was simple, relaxed, and welcoming.
☕ Meeting Different Kinds of Travellers
I met students, solo backpackers, international travellers, and people on work trips.
Listening to their travel experiences made me realise that everyone travels for different reasons:
Some travel to heal.
Some travel to celebrate.
Some travel to find themselves.
And some simply travel because their heart wants to wander.
❤️ What Delhi Taught Me
Even in the busiest cities, we can still find peaceful moments.
And sometimes the best memories are created through simple conversations with complete strangers.
🌿 Wild Sapiens Station, Jammu – A Hidden Gem
A Place That Instantly Felt Like Home
Among all my stays, Wild Sapiens Station in Jammu was one of the most warm and friendly experiences.
The hostel had a beautiful traveller vibe.
The common areas encouraged conversations and connections.
The staff and fellow travellers made me feel completely comfortable.
🌄 Slow Mornings and Beautiful Evenings
I still remember sitting on the terrace swing with my coffee while looking at the mountains.
Those moments were simple, yet deeply peaceful.
The hostel gave me the opportunity to slow down and simply enjoy life.
🤝 Beautiful Human Connections
The people I met here reminded me that kindness still exists everywhere.
We shared stories, food, travel tips, and dreams.
As a solo traveller, places like this make you feel:
Safe.
Connected.
Welcomed.
❤️ Jammu Taught Me
The best journeys are not rushed.
Some places are meant to be experienced slowly.
🌸 Zostel Srinagar – Living Beside Paradise
Waking Up to Kashmir's Beauty
Staying in Srinagar was magical.
The mountains, cool weather, Dal Lake vibes, and peaceful surroundings made every moment memorable.
Zostel once again provided a safe and vibrant environment for solo travellers.
☕ Conversations with Fellow Travellers
Every evening was filled with travel stories.
People shared experiences about Gulmarg, Sonamarg, trekking adventures, and hidden gems of Kashmir.
As a solo traveller, these conversations became extremely valuable.
I learnt:
Budget travel hacks
Safe routes
Local experiences
Lesser-known places
❤️ Kashmir Taught Me
Sometimes paradise is not just about beautiful places.
It is also about beautiful people.
🕉️ Dormitory Stay in Katra – Faith Connects Everyone
Simple Stay, Divine Experience
The dormitory stay in Katra was simple but memorable.
The atmosphere was completely different.
Everyone there had only one purpose:
To seek Maa Vaishno Devi's blessings.
I met families, elderly pilgrims, young travellers, and solo devotees.
Despite coming from different places, everyone felt connected.
🙏 Learning Through Faith
People shared their stories:
Their struggles
Their prayers
Their gratitude
Listening to them reminded me that every person carries silent battles and immense faith.
The journey to Mata Vaishno Devi became even more meaningful because of these interactions.
✨ What Staying in Hostels Taught Me About Solo Travel
People often think solo travel means being lonely.
For me, it was exactly the opposite.
Solo travel taught me:
❤️ To trust myself.
❤️ To become more confident.
❤️ To ask for help when needed.
❤️ To appreciate different cultures.
❤️ To become more open to people.
❤️ To enjoy my own company.
❤️ To create beautiful memories with strangers.
💰 Budget Friendly and Safe for Solo Travellers
One of the biggest advantages of these stays was:
✅ Budget friendly accommodation.
✅ Meeting fellow travellers.
✅ Local recommendations.
✅ Safe environment for women travellers.
✅ Information about nearby attractions.
✅ Easy access to transport.
Because of hostel communities, I discovered many hidden places and local experiences that I would have otherwise missed.
🌍 Final Thoughts – My Journey Was Never Alone
Looking back, I realise that these stays became much more than accommodation.
They became:
🏔️ My mountain homes.
☕ My evening conversation spaces.
🤝 My places of friendship.
❤️ My lessons in humanity.
As a solo traveller, these experiences taught me that the world is kinder than we often imagine.
Every city gave me memories.
Every hostel gave me friendships.
Every conversation taught me something.
And every journey helped me discover a little more about myself.
✨ Sometimes, the most beautiful part of travelling is not the places we visit, but the people we meet and the person we become along the way. ✨
Until the next journey… my backpack, my dreams, and my heart are ready once again. ❤️🏔️🌍
